Q: What is the Cyclones Basketball Club?
A: Cyclones Basketball Club was formed by Carina Cobras parent volunteers and working committee members that wanted to support the existing Cobras and Hawks teams and provide a fair chance to continue to play at Southern Districts if they chose to stay.
Q: What is the Carina Basketball Club?
A: The Carina Basketball Club was intended to be the entity that would manage and coordinate the teams by Southern Districts Basketball Association (SDBA) staff. With the creation and affiliation of Cyclones Basketball Club, it was no longer required.
Q: What do I need to do for the current Winter Season?
A: No changes. Your Coach, Team Manager, and Players will remain as is. As you would have seen in Carina Cobras email dated 26/05/23, they have kindly advised that the existing uniforms can be worn for the remainder of the season, and that the training venue leases remain in place. Therefore, training location and days/times remain unchanged.
Q: Will new uniforms be required?
A: Yes, but not until Summer Season in Term 4. We understand that costs are a factor and will do our best to keep costs down and any savings made will be passed on to you. Uniform cost is unavoidable no matter what club you play for at SDBA if you chose to stay.

Q: Who is my Age Group Coordinator (AGC) for the rest of this season?

Your AGC will often have a WhatsApp group for team managers and coaches. Ask them about it.
Q: What happens if my team does not have enough players?
A: Please let the AGC know. We will either find players to be placed in your team or move you to another team.
Q: What happens if my coach/team manager left?
A: Please let the AGC know. We will look for a new team manager and coach for your team.
Q: Will the team name change?
A: Not until Summer Season in Term 4. Your current SDBA# team name will remain in place for the remainder of the Winter Season to minimise confusion.
Q: What if I don’t want to join the Cyclones?
A: Cyclones is one of many options. Although we’d love it if you stay, you are always more than welcome to join another SDBA affiliated club if you wish to continue playing for the rest of the season. These clubs can be found on the SDBA website.
Q: Can I play in both SDBA and Eastside comps for this season?
A: You can continue playing at SDBA under the Cyclones or another affiliated Club. You can also play at Eastside for one of their affiliated Clubs. There are now many great options to play basketball locally.
Q: I am a current rep player for Spartans. Will I be able to continue to play rep with Spartans?
A: To play representative basketball, you will need to be registered with a club that is affiliated with SDBA. We encourage you to contact SDBA directly if you have any concerns.
Q: What happens at the end of the season?
A: If we have your contact details, we will send an email to register to play for the Cyclones in Term 4 – 2023. You are not obliged to play for the Cyclones and can opt out and play with any other club.
Q: What happened to the fees we paid to Carina Cobras at the start of the season?
A: Please refer to Carina Cobras previous statement on this. They can be contacted here.
Q: What will Summer Season registration cost?
A: We haven’t determined final registration fees that capture all costs yet, but they will not be too dissimilar to the amounts you previously paid at Carina Cobras.
Q: What happens if we don’t register?
A: If you are not registered by the cutoff date in Term 3, we will assume that you will not be playing in the Summer Season.
